One of the main planes that won the Pacific for the United States in World War II. The Avenger torpedo-bombed many Japanese ships and even 31 German U-Boats. Pretty amazing considering that when they debuted during the Battle of Midway five of the six TBFs were shot down. Nearly 10,000 were built by the end of the war.
