The C-124 was an improvement on the C-74 Globemaster. Standing in at over 48 feet tall, the Globmaster II was able to withstand tanks and trucks driving up the ramps. The hold could carry 220 troops, 136 stretchers, or 74,000 pounds of cargo. This useful plane was made obsolete by the availability of jet engines.
