Boulton-Paul Defiant.  Royal Air Force Night Fighter.  Series C, Number Forty-Five.  The R.A.F. has been able to maintain a favorable ratio against great odds in the night sky war flying the Boulton-Paul "Defiant".  A power-driven turret protects the rear.  Four machine guns forward have also taught the German Luftwaffe to avoid this night fighter.  A 1000 h.p. Rolls-Royce Merlin rockets the "Defiant" at better than 300 m.p.h.  Co-operation of Flying and Popular Aviation  This is one of a series of fifty pictures of Modern Airplanes packed with WINGS Cigarettes
